The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) has announced the start of applications for the “COMSTECH AWARDS 2025.”
The competition aims to recognize and award outstanding scientists and researchers across four categories with a total of 10 nominations:
- Lifetime Contributionto the development of biological and chemical sciences
- Outstanding Scientific Achievementsin science and technology
- Best Scientific Publication
- Advancements in Science Communication
The “COMSTECH AWARDS” was established in 1996 by the Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). These prestigious awards are open to citizens of OIC member states and scientists working in these countries.
For 2025, the awards will be presented in the following categories:
- Lifetime Contribution to the Advancement of Biology and Chemistry
Awarded to distinguished scientists with long-term contributions in the fields of biology and chemistry.
Winners will receive a certificate, a commemorative medal, and a cash prize of USD 8,000 for each discipline.
- Outstanding Scientific Achievements in Science and Technology
Submissions are accepted in three subcategories:
Young Researchers (applicants must be under 40 years old as of March 31, 2025).
The Best Scientific Book (published by an international publisher in 2023–2024).
Patents (recognized discoveries with significant theoretical or commercial impact, registered within the last five years).
Winners in each subcategory will receive a certificate, a commemorative medal, and a cash prize of USD 4,000.
- Best Scientific Publication
Open to research articles published in impact-factor journals during 2023–2024 in the fields of biology, chemistry, mathematics, and physics.
Winners in each discipline will receive a certificate, a commemorative medal, and a cash prize of USD 2,500.
- Achievement in Science Communication
This award is new category for 2025 and given to outstanding contributions to scientific communication and outreach in OIC member states. Eligible fields include science, education, journalism, public outreach, and filmmaking.
The winner will receive a certificate, a commemorative medal, and a cash prize of USD 4,000.
Application Process
Candidates for the “COMSTECH AWARDS 2025” can be scientists from scientific institutions, national research councils, universities, and research institutes who are citizens of OIC member states and are working in these institutions. The nominees will be evaluated by a panel of distinguished scientists and experts, appointed by the chief coordinator of COMSTECH, in the relevant field.
The application must clearly specify the award category and clearly outline the nominee’s contributions. The following documents must be attached to the letter:
- Application form (completed and signed)
- Curriculum vitae (CV)
- Résumé (not exceeding 4,000 words)
- List of scientific publications
- Recommendation letter from the head of the institution
The participating individual or institution must send the official recommendation letter and the relevant documents in electronic form to the COMSTECH Secretariat (awards@comstech.org) by March 31, 2025.
