UNESCO and the Government of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) are pleased to announce the 2025/2026 "Great Wall" Scholarship Program!

Under this scholarship program, one-year training courses will be organized for researchers (up to 45 years old) and senior researchers (up to 50 years old), as well as one-year academic programs for master’s degree (up to 35 years old) and doctoral program (up to 40 years old) students at higher education institutions in China. The scholarship will cover international airfare and all expenses related to studying in China, funded by UNESCO and the PRC Government. 

We encourage young teachers and researchers who aspire to build their careers in the same higher education institutions to apply. Candidates must hold a master’s degree (or a bachelor’s degree for certain fields) and demonstrate a high level of proficiency in English. 

Selected candidates are required to submit the following documents in two copies: 

• A completed online application form available at (two copies, accompanied by three photos); 

• A certified copy of their diploma (with appendix) or certificate, along with a transcript and its English translation (notarized); 

• An acceptance letter from a Chinese university (if prior contact has been established); 

• Two recommendation letters from professors or scholars familiar with the candidate’s academic work (in English); 

• A research proposal for the scholarship (500 words, in English); 

• An English language proficiency certificate; 

• A medical certificate (using the specified form in the appendix).
